Can heat expand time, too?

September 14, 2006

Last Saturday, I found out that a dear friend of mine has cancer. Thankfully, it is in the earliest stage, so 8 weeks of radiation therapy could supposedly kill the cancer cells. He has already gone through two weeks… this is the third week, third day of therapy, of gradual weakening. He is mentally strong, but those killer rays may break down his mental barrier. I will see him this weekend, and I am afraid.

I’ve known about his illness for 4 days, but it feels so much like 4 years! I want to help him, but I do not know what he needs. I ask him, and he says “I’m fine.” I am fired up in my body, my mind, and my heart… I want to do something! But he does not answer my phone calls, my emails, my text messages. And all that fire generated from God knows where inside of me doesn’t know where to go. So here I sit, in flames, counting minutes as days, hours as months, days as years. Because this heat has done nothing but expand the molecules of time.
